#GivingTuesday regularly takes place on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. We have participated in this day the past two years with successful fundraisers, and we plan to launch another fundraising campaign on the next #GivingTuesday on December 1, 2020.
#GivingTuesdayNow is a global day of giving and unity that will take place on May 5, 2020 as an emergency response to the unprecedented need caused by COVID-19.
We know these are hard times right now for many families in our GRIN2B community, and we are not looking to do a huge fundraising push at this time. Happily, there are many ways to get involved without fundraising. Or, there are always smaller ways to get involved in fundraising if you have the means. No amount is ever too small.
If you are looking for ways to support GRIN2B Foundation and help other GRIN2B families while self-isolating at home, here are some great possibilities for you!
1. Fundraise However You Can
- Become a Monthly Donor. Donating just $5 or $10/month creates a predictable revenue which allows us to plan large, long-term activities, expand our projects each month and continue funding much-needed research. Click on our Donate button and select “Make this a monthly donation.” (Note – our current donation platform requires you to have a Paypal account for this, but we will be updating our platform soon.)
- Create a Facebook fundraiser for your birthday, or any occasion.
- Sign up for AmazonSmile and select GRIN2B Foundation as your charity of choice. Each time you make a purchase, GRIN2B Foundation will receive .5% of eligible purchases.
- Purchase Awareness Apparel from our Bonfire store. (Masks coming soon!)
- Purchase Awareness Accessories (tote bags, coffee mugs, notebooks, etc.) from our Threadless store.
- Now that in-person events are off the table, help us brainstorm ideas for virtual fundraisers. Do you make a craft or sell something on Etsy? You can donate a portion of your sales to GRIN2B Foundation. Send your ideas to fundraising@grin2b.com.
2. Get Involved
- Make sure you’ve enrolled in all the #GRIN2B research studies
- Get caught up on our past blog posts and podcast episodes of Celebrating Rare: The GRIN2B podcast.
- Sign your children up for a pen pal club, organized by GRIN2B mom, Lauren Hookings (Australia), called Grinner’s Pen Pal Club. Sign up here. From Lauren: “Grinner’s Pen Pal Club connects young writers who love to receive mail the traditional way – in the post!! The young writer’s parent/guardian completes a survey via the Grinner’s Pen Pal Club Facebook page. Then when a match is found, they’ll receive an email inviting their child to connect with their new pen pal. Pen pals can be a great way to have a break from the digital world, while also encouraging literacy and fine motor skills, and finding out about different cultures. Grinner’s Pen Pal Club is for every young writer, but especially for siblings of children with disabilities who might feel a little alone while navigating school and friendships and growing up. Snail mail for the win!”
- Do you have experience with Fundraising or Writing Grants? Consider joining our Fundraising or Grants Committees (prior experience preferred). Email info@grin2b.com for more details.
