GRIN2B AWARENESS

MARCH 12th-18th IS GRIN2B AWARENESS WEEK*

GRIN2B Awareness Week was previously the 3rd week in March. Moving forward, we are changing GRIN2B Awareness Week from the 3rd week to 3/12 – 3/18. We chose the 12th to start off our week because GRIN2B is located on the 12th chromosome.

Follow us on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter all week long as we share facts about GRIN2B, as well as photos of our darling children, affectionately known as our “bees”. Please like and share our posts to help spread awareness.

Additional ways you can be involved:

  • In early March, add our GRIN2B Awareness frame to add to your Facebook profile picture.
  • Purchase our Awareness t-shirts and merchandise.
  • Purchase a GRIN2B Awareness yard sign to display in front of your house!
  • Give a talk at your church, school or community center. Download our GRIN2B Awareness Google Slide presentation for elementary school children and modify it for your own child!
  • Pass out a GRIN2B Info Sheet at your school, customized for your child. Email lauren.hookings@grin2b.com and she can customize this info sheet for your child.
  • Reach out to your local media to educate people about GRIN2B-Related Neurodevelopmental Disorder.
  • Host a fundraiser. See our Fundraising page for more info. Download our brochure.
  • Get together with other local GRIN2B families to lend support and have fun! Not sure if there are families that live near you? Post a message in our private Facebook support group or check our Map.
  • Download our GRIN2B Awareness Coloring page for your kids! Share on social and don’t forget to tag us!

TELL US

Whatever you choose to do, we want to hear from you! Please tell us how you are spreading awareness and share your pictures with us. We will feature them on the GRIN2B Foundation’s Facebook page (if you haven’t ‘Liked’ our page yet, be sure to do that).

HELP US SPREAD AWARENESS ALL YEAR LONG

Join our Social Media Campaigns:

#FeaturedFamilyFriday

On Fridays, we are sharing stories about our amazing GRIN2B families doing extraordinary things. If you would like to participate, please fill out this form and email 1-3 photos to brittaney.crider@grin2b.com.

#SuperpowerSaturday

On Saturdays, we are featuring our amazing GRIN2B kids with the hashtag #SuperpowerSaturday. This campaign was Inspired by the keynote speech given by Rachel Callender at the 2018 Global Genes Rare Disease Summit. Rachel wants to de-stigmatize the language surrounding kids with genetic differences and, instead, focus on what makes each child unique. She believes that each child has a superpower.

Send us your child’s photo and tell us what their “Superpower” is. Or, essentially, what do they do that is unique and special to them?

If you would like to participate, please fill out this form and email 1-3 photos to brittaney.crider@grin2b.com.

*In 2018 and 2019, we celebrated GRIN2B Awareness during the entire month of March. Starting in 2020, we changed it from a month to a week for two reasons. 1. It’s honestly much simpler for our Volunteer Board to manage a week’s worth of amazing Awareness content as opposed to a month. 2. We partnered with our friends at Cure GRIN Foundation to turn March into GRIN Awareness Month. GRIN2B is part of a family of Glutamate Receptor genes and each week in March will focus on a different gene.
